Montrose Publishing uses most of the popular page layout programs (InDesign, QuarkXPress, Pagemaker) and can provide complete desktop publishing services. This allows us to work easily with the publisher’s production department regardless of their level of experience in digital production.

If copy is camera ready, the material can be scanned and a digital file created.

We can accept most forms of electronic media such as IBM and Macintosh formats of Iomega Jaz and Zip disks. We can read word processing files, page layout files, and a wide variety of image files.

Electronic files can be sent as an e-mail attachment or uploaded to a dedicated area of our Web site or our FTP site. Our customer service department will provide a simple step-by-step explanation of how to quickly and securely transfer files.

Files are preflighted and imposed electronically. To assure high quality the files are imaged to film which is used to make metal plates. Customer files or negatives may be stored at Montrose Publishing for reprints, or they can be returned to the publisher.

Text and covers can be printed in one color to six colors. Publications are printed on 40" Heidelberg Speedmaster perfector offset presses. Covers are printed on a 5-color Heidelberg Speedmaster. Sheet fed offset presses offer complete flexibility in publication format, the highest quality, and greatest value for the short run publisher.

Publications are bound by wire saddle stitched binding, adhesive perfect binding or RepKover layflat binding. Work can also be produced trimmed on 4 sides, corner or side stitched.

We do not produce case bound, smyth sewn "hard cover" books at our Montrose facility, but we can provide this service in conjunction with an outside bindery.

Packaging options include shrink film, poly bags, carton packing and bulk packed with plastic wrap on pallets. All types of mailing services are available.

A coating applied over the printed cover enhances the appearance and improves the durability of the publication. We offer UV coating, film lamination, and a variety of varnishes.

Since Montrose Publishing serves some of the country’s largest publishers, we purchase at very competitive prices, passing these savings on to our customers. Customer furnished paper is also an option.
